Flowers come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, colours and forms. Therefore, a lot of gardening glossary words refer to flowers. So when people talk about perennials, annuals and biennials you now know the terms and can decipher what they mean. For example, a herbaceous perennial is a flower that comes back every year but the top growth completely dies back over winter so there is nothing left above ground.
