🌸 Hi! I’m JT 👋🏻
🍀 Let me show YOU all the things you can do to TRANSFORM your LIFE and your GARDEN

🌞 Happy Saturday, plant lovers! 🌸🌹 Today’s garden stars: the vibrant cherry cosmos paired with a radiant orange rose. Two flowers, two colours, one perfect bloom harmony. Bold, bright, and beautiful – just like weekends should be! 💐✨ #thegirlwhostaresatplants #gardening #gardeningtips #flowers #garden
I don’t have a ‘green thumb’ — I just stop I don’t have a ‘green thumb’ — I just stopped doing the stuff that kills plants *as often as I used to anyway 😆
Hi, I’m JT — The Girl Who Stares at Plants. This page is gardening without the BS for busy/lazy beginners in the UK or elsewhere if you’re interested! : fewer dead plants, faster wins, and honest fails (slugs included).
Expect 2 minute fixes, beginner-proof plant picks, and stunning blooms you can actually grow. If you’ve ever murdered a houseplant, you’re my people.

Think your garden’s done for the year? These blo Think your garden’s done for the year? These blooms will prove you wrong…”

Japanese anemones are the late-summer to autumn heroes every UK garden needs. While most flowers fade, these delicate, dancing blooms keep going strong—bringing colour right into September and October.

✨ Why grow them?
 • They thrive in partial shade (perfect for tricky corners).
 • Once planted, they spread easily—filling gaps with effortless beauty.
 • Hardy in UK winters, so they’ll come back stronger every year.

👉 Plant them in well-drained soil, keep them watered while establishing, and let them naturalise. Warning: they will spread—so give them space to show off.

Would you rather have a garden that peaks in summer, or one that keeps surprising you in autumn? 🍂#thegirlwhostaresatplants #gardening #gardeningtips #flowers #oneplantatatimeseries #japaneseanemone
Who actually grows and makes their own wedding flo Who actually grows and makes their own wedding flowers? …Me. And I’d 100% do it again.

I grew, designed, and arranged my own wedding flowers — straight from the garden to the aisle. 🌿✨

Was it easy? Absolutely not. Some flowers bloomed too early, I had to buy extras last-minute, and yes… there were tears into a bucket of roses. 😂 Even with the added expense, it still cost less than hiring a florist (albeit MUCH more stressful) — but wow, florists deserve ALL the respect because this job is no joke. 🙌

Walking down the aisle holding flowers I’d (nearly) grown with my own hands was unforgettable. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. 💍🌸

Big shout out to @jungl.marketing for the fab photos and @trianglenursery for the last minute flowers!

🌸 Think dahlias are tricky? They’re easier th 🌸 Think dahlias are tricky? They’re easier than you’ve been told.

Dahlias look like divas but honestly… they’re pretty chill once you know the basics. Here’s how to keep yours thriving from summer right through to the first frost:

☀️ Light – At least 6 hours of full sun every day.
💧 Water – Deep soak 2–3 times a week; keep the soil moist but never waterlogged.
✂️ Deadheading – Snip off faded blooms and they’ll reward you with more flowers.
🍂 Winter care – In cold climates, lift and store tubers after the first frost. In mild areas, mulch well and leave them in the ground.

Do this and you’ll have armfuls of cut flowers, vibrant borders, and a garden that looks like it belongs in a magazine.

👉 Who else is growing dahlias this year?
